I generally use Agoda for most of my accommodation bookings. Also TripAdvisor works a treat too. I have used both of these sites for hotel bookings and whenever I have arrived, the rooms have been ready to go with no problems whatsoever.

If you just want to stay in hostels try Hostel World. Hostels are cheaper, way more fun and you will always meet travel buddies that are living the dream just like you. Bring earplugs.

Couchsurfing.com This is a worldwide bunch of awesome people who will offer you somewhere to stay, either on a couch or mattress or even a room of your own if you are lucky. Check out the reviews of previous surfers first, so you don’t end up staying with an axe murderer. Just sayin.

I always pack a small camping tent and sleeping bag because you never know when you may need to just stop and rest for a while. It’s totally free too, but watch where you camp because there may be hungry beasts that chew on humans or you may be in a non-camping area.
